Anyone who has tried to buy a liquor license knows the problem. The rules are written for regulators, not for the person signing a lease. Prices are set by a market nobody publishes. The terminology changes at every state line, so a Type 47 in California, a 4COP in Florida and a D-5 in Ohio all describe roughly the same thing in three different languages. Meanwhile the license itself can cost more than the kitchen.

Every rule we state links to the statute or the state agency that publishes it, so you can check our work. When the answer is that you do not need to buy a license at all, because a beer and wine license would do or your state still issues them on request, we say that too.
